Anonymous donor gifts $5million to Christchurch's quake appeal to help fund projects for children

It is absolutely wonderful news to hear that an anonymous donor has gifted Christchurch $5million! (The largest contribution from an individual to the Appeal).

The donor's sole requirement was that the money is used for the provision of children.

Children who have had their lives turned upside down - whose facilities and daily lives have been sorely interrupted.

The money, says Mark Weldon of the Christchurch Appeal will be used for "the provision of community facilities for school children of all ages that will include indoor sports, safe indoor play and homework areas, Wi-Fi spaces, and a range of supervised activities."

Let's hope that the money gets put to good use in designing facilities that are conducive to children's needs and desires, as these kids really deserve it.

Children use rubble from the road to create what seems here a castle.

Children play in the cracks of the road.
